Healing at the Roots of Trauma – When We Are Stuck in Chronic Stress/Threat/Survival Physiology – Working with the Energy of Your Nervous System – Easing Back the Defensive, Protective Layers Held Deeply in Your Body & Creating Conditions for Safety.

“Many of us spend our whole lives running from feeling – with the mistaken belief that we can not bear the pain. But you have already borne the pain. What you have not done is feel all you are beyond that pain.” ~ Kahlil Gibran

We’ve experienced a tremendous amount of trauma and isolation over the past few years. Sensing into what is happening in world, we can find ourselves feeling low, stuck, anxious and fearful – unsure of how to help ourselves feel more grounded, stable and alive.

Slowly and gently, let’s notice the stress and fear physiology in our bodies and begin to care deeply for ourselves with compassion. Our bodies are always taking in messages from the inside of us (interoception) and the outside (exteroception), providing information to us:

Am I safe?
Is there a threat present?
What information is my body and nervous system giving me?
How can I continue to live and thrive in the world now?

Nervous system body-focused somatic healing work provides nourishment, increased capacity to feel and process emotion and restoration for your nervous system and brain.

Let’s notice what’s happening in your body – name it – and normalize it.

Safety/Danger Equation

When we’re in the ventral aspect of our nervous system, our system is open, when the cues of safety outweigh the cues of danger.

When the cues of danger outweigh the cues of safety, we may be in the sympathetic or dorsal aspect of our nervous system and we struggle with emotional and physical concerns.

What is a cue of safety in your body?
Warmth, touching something, our heart and body feels soft.

Reducing cues of danger – taking things out and bringing things in. Expanding cues of safety – when it doesn’t feel safe enough right now.

When we are struggling with anxiety, relationship difficulties, chronic pain, chronic stress, depression, eating disorders and addictions of all kinds, it can seem as though we may never reclaim our energy, vitality, pleasure and openness to life.

We certainly can. Healing happens from the inside out.

When we begin to slow down, go within our bodies, learn about how our bodies behave during chronic stress, become one with our bodies wisdom, and rest in states of deep nourishment, we can flourish. We begin to notice the unconscious detection of threat or safety from our bodies that we are picking up from our environment and our relationships.

We use a combination about many modalities including Somatic Experiencing, Somatic Resilience & Regulation, Transforming the Experience-Based Brain, The Polyvagal Theory, Autonomic Nervous System Mapping, The Safe & Sound Listening Protocol and Co-Regulating Touch Bodywork for Trauma, we work closely with your body’s deeply held threat/fear/stress responses, allowing your body to slowly begin to move towards safety.
