Beyond Defensive Patterns – Repatterning Your Nervous System for Ease & Flow.

Understand the root causes of many chronic conditions – including: relational struggles, emotional & physical pain and illness, eating disorders and addictions – and learn to rewire your nervous system so you can let go of old, adaptive struggles and feel more at ease and in flow in your life.
 
Many of us in modern society have lost touch with our ability to sense into and feel what is happening for us inside our own body, and it may feel very challenging to show up for ourselves and in our lives. We may feel chaos or confusion where there was once a feeling of calm and clarity – or maybe there has never been a feeling of clarity inside of your body, and you blame yourself.
 
Our nervous systems can get overloaded with sensory information and past trauma – and it can feel overwhelming when we consider how to shift the patterns in our system so we can feel less anxious feelings, confusion, chronic pain, or low/depressed mood – and instead, feel more flowing energy in our systems.
 

Our nervous system is complex – many of us do not know how it works in our body and that knowing more about our bodies is very helpful to help understand and be more aware of our symptoms.

If there were no confusion in our experience, each moment in our lives would pass through us without creating any disturbance in our body, mind or heart. We could be totally present for, rather than defended against, each situation – conflict and stimulation would pass through us and leave us feeling balanced and centred.

When our inner defensive strategies are happening inside, they can obscure our perception of and response to painful situations, or when we try to hold on, or cling to pleasurable situations, our energy becomes constricted and we become defended against the flow of life. Over time, our body learns to twist away from the truth of a situation, away from the natural flow of things – and we can become stuck in our defensive, tense and tight internal responses that are no longer serving us.

Here are some fresh ways of being that I will help you learn to pay attention to within yourself:
 
1) Noticing the smallest details of your experience
2) Sensing in to your bodily responses
3) Tracking sensations
4) Exploring with curiosity what is happening within
5) Being tender with yourself
 

Ways of being in our bodies, minds & hearts began with relational patterns that happened in our families, at school, with friends and within the culture that we live in. Over time, our nervous systems get overloaded with difficult, painful or too much sensory information or trauma from the external world, that we aren’t able to process and work through on our own.

It is the experiences that we don’t want to think about or want to push out of our minds that will remain with us forever, until we acknowledge them, feel the energy of them and process them within our bodies. The old, unwanted experiences that we have disconnected our awareness from in our bodies, stays trapped in that spot in our body.

An emotional charge is held in our body, and our choices, responses and desires as adults reflect the conflicts and survival tactics of our early years, when that unwanted experience began. An overall pattern of constriction is reproduced in all parts of ourselves, and we can contact the hidden parts of ourselves when we understand the interplay between our awareness, emotion and physical sensations.

We never have a thought that does not have a component of emotion and sensation, and we never have a sensation that does not contain an element of emotion and awareness, and we never have an emotion without the presence of sensation and awareness.

I can help you become aware of, understand and process your chronic emotional, health, and physical responses, so they can be transformed within yourself, while cultivating your own skills as a witness and guide for your healing journey.
 
We can feel small, overwhelmed stuck, shut down or lost. We are human, after all, and these feelings can be a part of our path – but we don’t have to accept that this is the way it will always be.
 

You can learn how to notice, track, be curious, be with, tolerate and expand the inner experience of your body and nervous system – shifting the way your body, mind and heart responds to emotional and physical pain, and chronic health conditions.

Allow for new feelings of spaciousness to land in your body, and build capacity and tolerance within your nervous system, so you can feel more grounded and present for what’s happening in your life.

We will uncover the deepest roots of chronic emotional and physical pain and struggle and how, with kindness, tenderness and attention, we can heal into embodied, emotional & physical ease and well-being.
