Your beautiful, vulnerable heart wants you to pay attention to it. Do not turn away from your pain and your emotions. Listen.
Ask yourself: What is the message in my pain? What is the gift?
Breathe and say to your heart, I’m taking care of you now.
Say to your pain, I am here for you now. I am present and paying attention to you. I am not ignoring you as I’ve done in the past. I no longer want to repress you, I want to feel you instead.
We all have a great fear inside of us. We do not want to feel our fear because it hurts, and we repress it. We often try to distract ourselves with tv, magazines, gossip, drinking, etc., so that we can drown out our pain and fear.
Instead, pay attention to what needs to be healed within you. Your fears of loneliness, death, change, old age, and illness, and practice being with our pain to help you understand and release your fear.
Every time a feeling of pain manifests itself, you can just be with it, even welcome it. Bring feelings of love to your pain and to yourself, and see how it feels.
By opening our hearts to our pain, we allow our deepest feelings to awaken within us. We do not need to fear our emotions. We can welcome it all.
As we begin to turn towards ourselves, our heart begins to awaken and we deepen our understanding of ourselves and others. It is during our most difficult times that we need to practice turning towards our loving, compassionate, vulnerable heart.
As we begin to look deep within, we will discover the gift in our pain. We don’t have to do it alone, we can be supported. It’s the reason we’re here.
