Practicing Compassion: Moving Through Fear, Grief & Anger

What may look like a small act of courage is courage nevertheless. The important thing is to be willing to take a step forward.

I have so much compassion for all of us. So many of us are walking through the world with broken hearts. We’re afraid, we’re angry and we’re confused. We don’t know what to do.

What we can do is learn who we are beyond our stories. And learn to be with ourselves. Deeply. Honestly. Truthfully. Authentically.

When we can be with ourselves, and accept ourselves for all that we find inside us, we transform.

It’s a practice.

Many of us believe the stories that other people have told us. We’ve been told that we’re angry, selfish, sad, and we’re not good enough. We’re carrying heavy burdens.

These stories are not who you are. This is your judging mind, and there is so much beauty within you, no matter what has come before.

We can learn to accept things as they are right now, no matter how difficult, and move through your difficulties towards something new. There is a more peaceful path.

Do you find yourself lost in fear, grief or anger?

Honour the tears that you carry. Allow your tears to fall. Your tears show you the unfinished business of what has come before.

You can wake up to the reality of the here and now. That our thoughts about the past are gone forever, and that our thoughts of the future may never come to pass.

It can be so painful to be here now. You can learn how.

Stop and quiet yourself at least once a day – sit with and honour your feelings.

Cultivate feelings of compassion and forgiveness – for yourself, and for others. For all that has happened before. Let go and find your spark. Look into your heart and allow yourself to be free.

Cultivate feelings of JOY and well-being – you may have forgotten that you are the definition of beauty and wholeness. See the good in yourself and in others. Turn towards your innate goodness and feel gratitude for the smallest things first.

We all want to be seen, heard and understood for who we truly are. We want to be loved and feel connected to ourselves and to others.

Connect to your vulnerability and honour it. It is not a weakness.

We are not meant to go it alone.

When you need help understanding and knowing yourself deeply, we reach out to understand ourselves with someone who is trained to listen and connect.

Each morning is a new opportunity. It’s never too late to begin again.
