I Don’t Really Know How to Have a Good Relationship …

A client shared this with me during a recent session. She said that she really didn’t know how to have a good relationship. As soon as she shared this, I felt a weight lift off her shoulders.

She has been struggling in a long-term relationship for several years now, and wants to know what to do to improve it. She feels sad, hurt and frustrated. and she does not know how to improve the closeness and quality of her relationship.

I understand.

In the past, she would have struggled on her own. Now, she feels supported.

Many of us face difficulties in our relationships, and we don’t know what to do.

Can you relate?

If we’re honest with ourselves, we may say the same thing as my client did — that we really don’t know how to have a good relationship. We just hope that ours will be satisfying for as long as possible, and we try not to think about it.

When things go wrong in our relationships, we blame ourselves, and we think it’s our fault.

We wonder how to improve things, and how we can go back to the way things used to be — when we first met our partner and we first fell in love.

We can feel devastated and confused — and we’ll do anything to change it.

One thing we can count on, is that over time, things change in our relationships. We’re often unaware what is happening, when it is happening.

While we can’t prevent such change from happening, we can understand specifically what is happening for us, and give ourselves the freedom to flow with the changes, and understand what is best for us.

When we become aware of what’s happening for us now – how we truly feel in this present moment, everything becomes clear.

Working together will help to deepen your understanding of yourself in your relationships, and the shifts that have taken place over time.

You don’t have to blame yourself.

You can understand yourself in relationships, and you can learn to have a good relationship, no matter what is happening now, or has happened before.

Let’s make sense of what’s happening for you and within your relationship together.
