Letting Go of Who You Thought You Were

April 21, 2014

You are reading this for a reason. No matter what you may have learned before, and what you perceive to be a problem (your pain, your suffering, your illness) is not one at all.

Now is the time to turn towards your experience, instead of turning away. It is an opportunity to crack open, catalyze your potential, and embody who you really are. An opportunity you may have never consciously chosen, but something has led you here: to the pain in your soul.

The purpose of understanding what is within your soul is not simply to “get better,” the purpose is to allow yourself to be transformed. I’m here to help you transform. To help you let go of who you thought you were, so that who you really are can emerge.

We must face our own darkness to uncover the light of our own truth.

You may not feel that you can trust yourself and others enough to be open about what you really think and feel. This creates a feeling of alienation to yourself and to others. And feelings don’t flow.

When there’s no flow of feelings, the heart is closed and you feel pain. You know what love is supposed to feel like, but as for feeling it, you may never have felt it in your body.

When we allow ourselves to go beyond our old boundaries within ourselves, we begin to heal ourselves. We go places within ourselves that are new to us and we begin to grow.

When you begin the process of trusting your own voice and going forth in to the darkness, you may find that relationships around you may not be able to go along with you. You may need to find others who want to step in to the darkness with you. And trust the process.

You may be without a relationship for a while and you may feel empty or lonely. You can begin to understand that you can fill your empty spaces, with your essence. Your suffering is not meaningless. And you can trust that something new is being born from the chaos.

We get stuck when we hear the voices of our family members in our heads and we take on those voices as our own – and as our truth. Without a vision, we get stuck in old patterns, because we can’t imagine another way of being. There’s always another way.

Once you begin to see with new eyes, and hear with new ears, you can’t go back.

However painful the path, you know you’re in the fire of your life. You’re transforming and becoming who you really are.

Be silent. Provide space and patience.

And practice loving yourself first and being supported – every day.

When I came to you I felt confused, disconnected and broken. Now, I'm on my way to feeling whole. Thank you.

I’m so glad I’m giving myself space to explore what’s happening in my life and to understand my feelings.

I've wanted to do this for a while and I'm so glad I did - I trust myself more now, I feel more calm and open - working together has changed the course of my life.
