The Healing Power of Relationships

May 1, 2014

When we connect to another person, we connect to all of life.

My hope when working with clients is that they experience what it feels like to be in a healing, trusting relationship.

Relationships can be so difficult for so many of us, for so many reasons. Many of our early relationships teach us so many confusing and painful things about what it means to be in relationship with another person. Sometimes, it feels difficult to trust others to be there for us in the ways that we need them to be.

You may feel that you can’t say how you feel, or you can’t be vulnerable or you will be rejected if you show more of who you really are. So you keep quiet. You repress your feelings and you feel angry, sad and anxious. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Working together in a close client/therapist relationship, I get to know my clients deeply and we develop a real connection. I learn about you and discover the ways you may struggle in relationships.

You are unique, an individual; and the stories of your life are emotional and personal to you. You may have learned to hold back your feelings and emotions, and may have been told that how you felt wasn’t important. It is.

We have a whole set of senses we use for communication with each other, so we need to be present, real and engaged if we want to understand each other.

My clients share their deepest vulnerabilities with me and that is a privilege and a responsibility. It’s such joy to be part of each person’s journey and to watch people blossom and bloom into their own power, strength, beauty and joy in front of my eyes.

The deeply personal client/therapist relationships are sustained by mutual sharing – the more you tell me about yourself, the richer our relationship becomes.

You can heal, learn to be authentic and share your thoughts and feelings together. This is a powerful experience. An opportunity to be seen and heard and accepted for who you really are.

If you struggle with intimacy or feel afraid of sharing yourself with another person, why not work with me and learn to feel your way into emotional connection, while still feeling empowered.

The world is full of beautiful people who are lovely, interesting and worth trusting. Maybe it’s time for you to step into your relationships in a new way and learn how you can share yourself emotionally, without feeling anxious or fearful.

Want to feel vibrant , healthy, confident and alive?

You can learn how to be in long-term, successful relationships that aren’t like the ones you’ve had in past.

The first step is to begin with truly knowing and loving yourself.

Maybe today is the first day of your new relationship journey. How would that feel?

I’m so glad I’m giving myself space to explore what’s happening in my life and to understand my feelings.

I've wanted to do this for a while and I'm so glad I did - I trust myself more now, I feel more calm and open - working together has changed the course of my life.
