Healing Your Eating Disorder

November 19, 2013

Suffering from an eating disorder feels really, really terrible. You may already know that. You feel badly all day long and only find relief when you are asleep or distracting yourself with behaviours that lessen your anxiety.

There is a better way. A way to feel connected and loved and supported and nurtured. In short, there’s a way to feel better than you ever felt.

You can’t do it alone though. At least not at the beginning. You need support.

If you suffer from an eating disorder, you are likely highly functioning. You are probably a great student, a great employee, a great partner and a great parent. You do a really good job of hiding your pain in plain sight and telling everyone that you are OK. This is the unfortunate part. Because you are suffering.

Do you obsessively control your food intake, binge and purge, exercise compulsively, choose to isolate from friends and family, and have obsessive thoughts?

With support and time, you can begin to understand yourself and your behaviours, and change them. You will learn to love and nurture yourself.

As you begin to feel connected within the therapeutic relationship, you will begin to feel more connected to yourself and ultimately, to creating other loving and connected relationships in your life.

You don’t have to feel this way forever. Reach out and take the first step.

When I came to you I felt confused, disconnected and broken. Now, I'm on my way to feeling whole. Thank you.

I’m so glad I’m giving myself space to explore what’s happening in my life and to understand my feelings.

I've wanted to do this for a while and I'm so glad I did - I trust myself more now, I feel more calm and open - working together has changed the course of my life.
