Creating a Lasting, Loving Relationship with Yourself

April 6, 2014

“The greatest love affair you will ever have in your life is the one you have with yourself.”

Get curious about yourself. Bring love for yourself out of hiding.

Let go of all the obstacles to living what’s in your heart. Including all of your inherited belief systems, and learn to take responsibility for your own pleasure in life. We’re taught from childhood that love is a game we either win or lose—it’s not.

We believe that other people are the source of our happiness or unhappiness—they’re not. If you can form a lasting, forgiving, passionate relationship with yourself, for better and worse, there’s nothing to keep you from having one with somebody else.

Maybe you’ve blamed someone else for your unhappiness. If you want to fuel enduring love between a partner, you need to understand what stokes your inner fire and stoke it every day.

Pay attention to yourself and don’t follow the crowd. This takes courage. It is this kind of knowledge and understanding of ourselves lights us up and attracts others to us. There is nothing sexier, healthier, or more potent than stepping fully into your life force and holding nothing back.

Many people want to live more fully and pay attention to themselves, but they get caught in the hurt and pain that happened in the past. We need to pay attention to ourselves and take time to heal.

Along with healing, we can rediscover what’s working well in your life now and what you may need to let go of to increase the flow of love and joy in your life. On the surface, our lives may seem fine, but when we pay close attention, we notice there are nagging feelings of unease, confusion, anxiety and restlessness — these feelings may even keep us up at night.

When we pay attention to our feelings and our pain, instead of turning away, we will find something different within us, perhaps something we’ve never seen before. Something beautiful. And uniquely your own.

I’ll support you when you take time to turn towards yourself and begin to create a lasting, loving relationship, that no one can take away from you.

It’s so worth it.

When I came to you I felt confused, disconnected and broken. Now, I'm on my way to feeling whole. Thank you.

I’m so glad I’m giving myself space to explore what’s happening in my life and to understand my feelings.

I've wanted to do this for a while and I'm so glad I did - I trust myself more now, I feel more calm and open - working together has changed the course of my life.
