What Happens When You Allow Yourself to Be Supported?

June 23, 2014

Perhaps the thought of being supported brings up thoughts of “I can do it myself,” or “I don’t need any support, I’m doing fine.”

Amazing, independent, intelligent women – who are successful in many areas of their lives – can often feel isolated, lonely, or unsure of themselves sometimes – and it may feel uncomfortable to reach out for support during those times.

Why struggle all alone? You don’t have to feel this way.

Many people don’t feel the amount of joy, connection, intimacy, and aliveness as they long for. They feel confused because they haven’t got all aspects of their life figured out yet, and they feel like they should.

“I’m a grown-up and I’m still confused. I’m in turmoil sometimes and I cry when I’m alone. Shouldn’t I have this all figured out by now?”

In a word, NO. All of us need support, no matter how old we are.

In order to feel comfortable asking for support, we need to feel comfortable with receiving.

Do you allow yourself the gift of receiving?

Think of how it feels to allow ourselves to stop pushing and allow ourselves to feel nurtured and nourished.

Our close, intimate relationships, friendships and family members can do this for us, but often we are doing more for them. We can also feel this when working closely in a therapeutic relationship with a trusted therapist.

Maybe you’re the one who does all the giving and feel uncomfortable with receiving.

You may feel that you are missing some support in putting all the elements of your life together, so you feel connected and grounded in all areas.

When you begin to allow yourself to receive, you begin to listen to your inner knowing. There is a part of you that wants you to truly listen to your own voice and then do what it tells you to do.

You may not trust yourself.

You may not trust others.

You may doubt some things and still succeed in some areas of your life.

There may be times that you feel that life is passing you by and you may feel empty.

Reaching out and working together is the first step towards your allowing yourself to receive – support, nurturing, and inner nourishment.

Towards stepping fully into your life, and be all that you are in relationships, work, school, friendships, love, and money.

Love, success, relationships, connections, intimacy, joy – it’s all available to you now.

It’s time to allow yourself to receive the support you need to flourish in all areas of your life.

Let’s get started…

I’m so glad I’m giving myself space to explore what’s happening in my life and to understand my feelings.

I've wanted to do this for a while and I'm so glad I did - I trust myself more now, I feel more calm and open - working together has changed the course of my life.
